PRWDF (Periyakaradiyur Rural Women Development Federation) is a grassroots, women-led nonprofit dedicated to building stronger, self-reliant rural communities. Since 1969, we’ve empowered women through self-help groups, vocational training, and social awareness programs — driving lasting change from the ground up.
From a humble beginning in Periyakaradiyur to becoming a catalyst for rural transformation, our path has been one of dedication, growth, and collective strength.
Founded as a Rural Women’s Group
PRWDF began as a small self-help initiative formed by women in Periyakaradiyur to support each other and address local challenges.
First Legal Awareness Camp
The federation conducted its first free legal aid and women’s rights awareness camp, helping dozens understand their rights and access services.
Cattle Rearing Training Launched
Women were trained in livestock management, milk production, and sustainable rearing practices for economic upliftment.
Vocational Training in Pickle & Mushroom Making
Skill development programs were expanded to help unemployed women start home-based businesses in food processing.
We engage directly with women, elders, and community groups to understand their challenges, resources, and goals.
Based on real needs, we create tailored programs — from SHGs and training to health awareness and financial literacy.
We don’t stop at launching programs. We provide ongoing mentoring and ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
